Written comments accepted until June 28
ISSUE
While the 87th regular legislative session is over and Medicaid expansion did not get passed, we all have a chance to make our support for it known. Until June 28, Texas Health and Human Services is accepting comments during the state’s 1115 waiver extension application process. Every comment will become part of Texas’ official application for Medicaid funding.
The 1115 waiver enables hospitals and mental health providers to get funds to pay for indigent care. Texas’ current waiver good until September 2022. The Biden administration rescinded Trump’s waiver extension and has ordered Texas to collect public input.
TAKE ACTION
You can submit a written comment to let Texas Health and Human Services know that you support having Texas take the Medicaid expansion that would extend preventive and primary care to low-income Texans.
